Theresa May chairs first cabinet meeting as PM
Prime Minister Theresa May has chaired the first meeting of her new cabinet.
Mrs May told her ministers she did not want the UK to be "defined by Brexit", but to "build the education, skills, and social mobility to allow everyone to prosper from the opportunities of leaving the EU".
Chancellor Philip Hammond updated cabinet on the post-referendum economy.
Only a handful of the 27 members of Mrs May's top team are in the same jobs as under David Cameron.
Others are in the cabinet for the first time.

During cabinet Mrs May repeated her call, made on the steps of Downing Street, for the government to focus on the interests of working people and not just "the privileged few".
She told ministers they all had a duty to make a success of Brexit - and that it is not just the responsibility of those directly involved in the negotiations.
"It will be the responsibility of everyone sitting around the Cabinet table to make Brexit work for Britain," she was expected to say.

"Mission Impossible": Tight Brexit timeline unsettles Germans
Daily Mail - 2 hours ago
BERLIN, July 21 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and fellow European leaders are pressing the new British government to trigger divorce proceedings with the European Union as soon as possible.

Comment for the pat 25 year our Community have been making very unique impute in British/European politic and economy - we have been covering the Britexit debacle for our community because beside Facebook - private discussion from a written platform prospective we are the only one providing this service.
We addressed the Council changing the lock at our place - your respond. one of the most important challenge facing the Mauritius and Seychelles community after Britexit is the so call British Justice benchmark what they will force down our throat, bully, intimidate and force us to accept a Justice value.
For the pat 25 years our collective community important contribution in it economic working and real politic - the vast majority of our families and youth have been programmed and they want you to be more programmed - those who will judge this a bad mouth.
In changing those locks by the Council were many communities they have proper office and resource we do not have this any attempt to try otherwise have been counteract with bullying, intimidation, threats and death.
Our young generation are not that interested in our affair - like so many other communities who refuse to engage in their respective affair what this mean and spell - the host country this in effect what Britain is for our ethnicity and realpolitik they enjoy this because, the our young generation become disjointed, dislocated and fractured, they have no real prospective of who they are , their root and people.
They become the tool for crook, thieve dishonest politicians, so call expert and media moron.
Compare our community wealth and other the shock yet our real contribution - the great talk of empowerment, social justice and democratization of communities.
How many remember out real politic back in 1997 - we had lost a great deal and what was happening to us all getting drunk and taking drug is not the solution and helped nobody. The need to know and remember if our community cannot/do not have a minimum working resource what this spell. With this Britexit - unless our community engage we could be face and far worse than 1997 situation. Just talking is not good enough their must be real action at the same time what we communicate /can communicate, judge we ought to communicate. On specific or general topic.
Other communities would have fought very hard to preserve what they have achieved not so our community in Britain - the need to tell, explain to those little children what we have done and did for the land, air they are breathing and people they are living with.
With the Britexit real politic it is a formidable challenge for our community - unless we know what we have done, capacity to build and impute how can/will we survive this infernal battle coming - the need to remember and remind all of us the real politic of then pre Mrs Thatcher politic and economy and today - with knowledge and information this should have been better if anything it is a very uphill battle.
We mentioned the Blair era of rebuilding and refurbishing the Universities and Colleges building in London - stating we played a role /part this is not propaganda - you the Seychelles community need/duty is to find out how we achieved this and what mechanism was /were applied and those involved so that your children can have a remote eventual chance in the forthcoming mega Britexit battle - those who choose the politic of using and abusing others - you cannot one moment tell me to engage and contribute after I have done this you bully, intimidate and threaten me - this attitude and approach will only lend to negativity. So that you can fleece, skin and rip me, my community off. You can drive in big car and live in expensive house and your children can have better thing in life. Then use the TV and media to rubbish me/us off drive us into the ground /mud/dirt.

EU appoints former French minister who blames Britain for losing his job as head of Brexit negotiations
The European Commission has shown it is prepared to play "hardball" by appointing a former French minister who reportedly holds a grudge against Britain as head of its Brexit negotiations.
Jean-Claude Juncker, the European Commissioner has announced the appointment of Michel Barnier, an arch-federalist, as Brussels' chief negotiator for the UK's exit talks with the EU.
Diplomats have suggested Mr Barnier he still resents Britain after losing his job after the French Government lost a referendum on the European Constitution.

Brexit ‘will be delayed until 2019’
Brexit ‘will be delayed until 2019’
Brexit could be delayed until the end of 2019 – because Britain is ‘not ready’ to leave the EU.
The country could remain in the bloc for three more years because Theresa May and her government need time to prepare for exit negotiations.
Economists have worked out how much Brexit could cost us
Sources told the Sunday Times that they have been privately warned by ministers that Article 50 may not be invoked in January, as expected.
The delay has been blamed on the government’s Brexit and international trade talks departments not yet being fully staffed.
The prime minister previously said she would not trigger Article 50 this year, despite many Leave voters expecting the process of leaving the EU to begin immediately after the referendum on June 23.

UN committee concerned about rise in racist hate crimes after Brexit vote

A United Nations body has expressed serious concerns about the increase in racist hate crimes in parts of the UK as a result of the Brexit vote.
The organisation's report found the European Union referendum campaign was marked by "divisive, anti-immigrant and xenophobic rhetoric", and many politicians "not only failed to condemn it but also created and entrenched prejudices".
The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination's report raised concerns about the media coverage of immigrants and ethnic minorities, as well as the rise of online abuse.

Scotland needs more federal UK after Brexit, says Brown
Scotland needs more federal UK after Brexit, says Brown
Gordon Brown has urged Scotland to examine a "more federal" relationship with the UK in the wake of the country voting to leave the EU.
In a speech in Edinburgh, the veteran Labour figure called the recent further devolution package as "already out of date" and needing "revised" due to the EU referendum result.
The Scottish Parliament received more powers, and will continue to receive further powers in a staggered process, after Westminster passed the Scotland Act 2016 in March.
The former Prime Minister called on the country to "examine" transferring powers away from Brussels, which currently rules on many aspects of fishing and agriculture, to Holyrood instead of Westminster.

Some of David Cameron’s closest special advisers were rewarded with bumper pay rises just months before the former prime minister granted them severance packages over and above what they were contractually entitled to, according to new research.

Brexit protest: March for Europe rallies held across UK
Brexit protest: March for Europe rallies held across UK
Thousands of pro-Europe protesters have been marching in London, calling for the UK to strengthen its ties to the continent following the Brexit vote.
The March for Europe aimed to put pressure on the government to delay activating the formal process of leaving the EU.
Pro-Brexit demonstrators staged a counter-protest at one location along the marching route.
Rallies have taken place across the UK, including in Edinburgh and Birmingham.
A sea of blue EU flags filled Parliament square shortly after 13:00 BST, where protesters sang along to The Beatles' hit Hey Jude, replacing the title words instead with "EU".
Demonstrators were calling for the government to make tight economic, cultural, and social ties with the rest of Europe.
