Qatar Airways to resume daily Seychelles service
11-March-2016
Qatar Airways will resume its daily service to Seychelles as from December 12, 2016.
The good news was revealed by Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker during the opening day of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel fair.
Qatar Airways had suspended its previous Seychelles route in June 2013 citing commercial reasons.
Seychelles is one of six destinations in Africa which Qatar Airways will serve. The others are Marrakech, Windhoek, Douala, Libreville and Lusaka.
In total, Qatar Airways has announced plans for 14 additional new destinations, including a new service between Doha and Auckland, which would become the world’s longest, a 17.5-hour, 9,031-mile journey from Doha to Auckland, New Zealand.
The new Doha-Auckland route – the announcement of which has been heavily trailed since January – will begin on December 3, and will be flown by Qatar Airways‘ Boeing 777 fleet.
The current longest flight is operated by Emirates, which launched its 8,823 mile Dubai to Auckland flight at the beginning of this month.
“Qatar Airways prides itself on being a global connector, and most importantly, providing seamless and convenient connections for our customers, so that we remain their airline of choice,” said Akbar Al Baker.
