The Seychelles Musicians Association (SeyMas) has elected a new seven member committee this week.

In a Seychelles’ first the election was held on the social media platform using WhatsApp and SMS messages.

Eleven persons put their names forward for the election held on Tuesday.

The Saturn Band keyboard player Georges Payet came out ahead of the pack with 55 votes.

The rest of the results were as follows: Thomas Knowles (45), Florette Botsoie (44), Irene du Preez (44), Norman Lucas (39), Andre Sinon (31) and Ralph Amesbury (25).

SeyMas outgoing Chairperson Jean Marc Volcy opted not to contest the vote.

The committee will meet soon to decide on the various office bearers’ position.
