Succes for the Seychelles at the french diving show

The Seychelles Tourism Board in France were once again at the Porte de Versailles in Paris over the three and a half days 08th – 11th January to attend the French Diving Show. 410 Exhibitors participated in the show and came to propose their novelties in the hall 4 of the exhibition center. Equipment manufacturers, tour operators and tourist offices, clubs and associations all answered present to the call of the ocean. 37% of them coming from abroad. 55 500 visitors made it to the show this year, a historic attendance which testified their support to the environmental cause, which was the theme for this year’s edition. The diving market in France remains a stable one with 160 000 licenses for a total of 300 000 estimated divers. The Seychelles delegation this year was represented by the Seychelles Tourism Board, Silhouette Cruises and the national airline Air Seychelles. The trio joined forces to showcase to the visitors the vast world that lies between 4 and 10 degrees south of the equator, home to a marine extravaganza as diverse and vibrant as it is unique. The Seychelles was visible through the participation of Blue Sea Divers with its own dedicated stand. “Seychelles offers diverse and impressive diving opportunities for experienced and novice divers alike and we have dive centres throughout the archipelago”, it is thus imperative that we keep reminding the world of the rewarding experiences around both our granitic and the numerous coral atolls which await them throughout the year “said Bernadette Willemin. She added that diving is a priority market segment which the Seychelles Tourism targets and will continue to do so.

Mauritius meetings brings the 'luxury branded' goods into focus as key business partners meet Seychelles Minister St.Ange ahead of similar meetings with Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius Duval and President Didier Robert of La Reunion

Pascal Viroleau, the CEO of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands organised a series of trade meetings on the sidelines of the region's Ministerial Meeting of the Vanilla Islands taking place in Mauritius between the 13 and 14 of January.

The Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands (Mauritius, Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar, Comoros, Mayotte and Maldives) are all in their own way spearheading programs to grow their respective tourism industries. Duty Free Shopping of branded luxury goods is something often raised in tourism forums and the Mauritius meetings brought together some key players to meet the regions politicians.

CHALHOUB Group is today known in the GCC Countries as an important representative of major luxury brands and an operator of Duty Free Centres and along with SYNERGY Company of La Reunion and Mauritius they presented what could be done for the region to bring 'shopping holidays' in the broader sense in line with expectations of the discerning travellers.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles minister responsible for Tourism and Culture met this group of business partners at a working dinner on Tuesday night at the Labourdonnais Hotel in Port Louis, whereas Xavier Duval, the Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius and Didier Robert, the President of La Reunion are set to also meet the same group during the morning and in the afternoon Wednesday.

Minister Alain St.Ange said after the meeting that 'shopping holidays' is today more needed that ever before as an important selling point. "Seychelles is embarking on direct non-stop flights to China and these visitors for example are always researching on shopping possibilities in destinations they will visit". said Minister St.Ange as he invited the business group he met in Mauritius to undertake a working exploratory visit to Seychelles in February.
