Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove’s Maxime Rachel receives Starwood’s president award

23-April-2016
Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove’s director of operations, Maxime Rachel, has been selected to receive the prestigious Starwood President’s Award for 2015.
The award is in recognition of exceptional service and dedication for their individual property.
In 2015, Maxime led the team for three months while recruiting for a general manager. His focus on the
quality of the guest experience and employee engagement and morale was a driving force in ensuring that resort operations were held to the luxury standards expected of the Le Méridien Brand. Mr Rachel has been with Starwood Resorts & Hotels since 2014.
“It is an honour to receive this award and be recognised by my general manager and Starwood’s Europe, Africa & Middle East (EAME) Division. My success would not be possible without the great team here at Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove. They have helped me to grow and develop professionally as a true Starwood ambassador,’ says Mr Rachel.
Romain Chanet, general manager of the resort states: “Maxime’s passion for his job and his team are a true example of what this award signifies. A true team-player and positive influencer are just a few reasons for his success.”
The award-winning Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove is located on Beau Vallon beach along 3 km of sparkling sands. Encompassing 68 rooms and suites, two restaurants, the Zen Spa, and array of water sports, it is the premier destination to discover on the picturesque Beau Vallon beach.

Transport minister assesses ongoing projects at the airport

23-April-2016
Plans to build new roundabout also revealed
A new roundabout in the vicinity of Ros Torti will be built and operational before the end of the year to ease movement of traffic at the airport and on the main road in the airport vicinity.
More details about the construction of the roundabout and how it will complement the overall road networks were provided to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport Joël Morgan, during a visit at the Seychelles International Airport yesterday.
The roundabout project, which is being financed by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), will be carried out by the Seychelles Land Transport Agency.
The minister and his delegation were visiting the airport premises to appraise progress made so far on the renovation of the airport terminals and ongoing works in its environs.
“The construction of a roundabout is imminent as it will provide a more convenient access to airport users, at the same time it will ease flow of traffic on this part of the island where the road is very busy especially at peak hours,” said Minister Morgan.
Accompanied by SCAA officials, the minister and his delegation also assessed progress made so far on the renovation of the domestic and international arrival and departure terminals.
Construction of an additional 800 square meters at the arrival area which includes new facilities for immigration, Seychelles Tourism Board and protocol services on two separate floors will finish by June this year.
On the other hand, work at the departure lounge has been partly completed, the remaining mezzanine floor will be ready and functioning at around the same period this year.
“While the bulk of the work will be completed by June, the refurbishment of the existing arrival and departure lounges will be carried out during the forthcoming three months. We hence expect that by the end of the year passengers will be cruising through a vibrant new airport,” said Patrick Hoareau, the general manager for airport management, and the manager of these projects.
As for the domestic terminal, the new departure lounge, check-in area, and baggage handling area will be ready in four months. By July 2017, the public travelling to other Seychelles islands will be familiarising themselves with a whole renewed domestic terminal, with fresh commercial and services outlets.
Altogether, SCAA is investing about 130 million rupees in the above-mentioned projects.
“All these improvements are expected to enhance the passenger experience when they travel to Seychelles which is considered as a five-star destination. Today, passengers have very high expectations and prefer to indulge in modern and contemporary facilities,” said the minister
This is especially important at the airport, which is the gateway to our islands. So, the Seychelles International Airport needs to offer the best services that can be provided in the Indian Ocean,” added Minister Morgan.
The accompanying photos were taken by our photographer Joena Meme during yesterday’s visit.
