President Faure attends send-off for 10th Indian Ocean Island Games 2019

President Danny Faure attended the official sending off ceremony for the 10th Indian Ocean Island Games 2019 held at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) yesterday evening.

During the ceremony, the President of the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games and International Games Committee, Mr Antonio Gopal, expressed appreciation to all the relevant partners and stakeholders for coming together to ensure the preparations for the games and the final send off ceremony materializes.

Addressing the guests, the Designated Minister and the Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, thanked the government for its commitment and continuous support and urged the athletes participating to give their best. She also made a special mention to all the sponsors as well volunteers who have in one way or another contributed to the success so far, and as the country rallies behind the Seychelles Team, took the opportunity to formally wish the athletes best of luck in the upcoming games.

Guests present also witnessed the presentation of IOIG 2019 sports uniforms by the Managing Director of Mauritius Commercial Bank, Mr Bernard Jackson, to the Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council, Mr Jean Larue. The IOIG athletes displayed the Seychelles Team Uniforms during the ceremony whilst walking to the beat of the Hymn of the 2019 Indian Ocean Island Games “Tamtam Dan Zil”.

To conclude the ceremony, President Faure formally handed over the National Flag of Seychelles to the Seychelles Team Flag Bearer and 2018 Sportsman of the Year, Mr Keddy Agnes.

The ceremony was also attended by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Nicholas Prea, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan, Ministers and other distinguished guests.

The vast many attending the 10 days events gave little have been publish of the first event held in Reunion, the Cold War, Communist ,USSR, China , OAU, Cuba verses the West, the human psychosis and, grave undercurrent and fears, trepidation , concern. . Nobody mentioned upon the inauguration of the monument to first President Seychelles Mancham in the Peace Park  , the politic of then Indian Ocean, the fears in spite of the undertaking by the British government, the UN and America/BIOT to protect Sir James Mancham government after Independence.


The,  his officials , ministers and today we have at least two still alive Minister D'offay , Minister Pierre  and Jumeau any still alive we do not know. In Seychelles those who would have gone down the road of Rhodesia and taken Unilateral Independence safe that France would not guarantee and support - instead the politic of the Indian ocean game, the French Pro council Seychelles the Delhomme #family . Among those alive then Mr Gerard Hoareau and those who manage the Sport functioning of then Seychelles, the Committee to attend the First game in #Reunion  1976/77.

Sir James Mancham himself and his minister knew that a coup d'etat was inevitable, the the UN, USA and other West nation would come to his help. In planning and preparing for that first historic prestigious  Indian ocean game in Reunion, by then we had left Seychelles August 1976 - all those who known of his government , local and regional politic. Nobody in the Seychelles the many media we have today have thought of writing a fitting article on this historic events and indeed very important event - in the end the coup d'etat took place and it was President F A  Rene government who finalised Seychelles sport of the first Indian ocean game  and his politic/propaganda -we had become acquaint with a then University student among  his graduation topic Sports and we touch this topic in conversation, today he is a Sport Professor  -  I was in Vienna, 1978 then UN and UNIDO, Dr David Rakotopare and the Austrian government OPEC and OAU.  The sporting emphasis of the Communist /socialist /Marxist government and Ideology. The role model and Health of the nation/fitness. Seychelles president FA Rene made a very god impression organising that Seychelles take part in the first game in Reunion what the media said and those in Vienna, Hon Consul Karl Pisec, the USA Embassy , South Africa, Israel, French embassy  - what about the fate of Sir James Mancham and his Ministers. The Olympic Seychelles games is about fitness and health - the mind set of those in Seychelles in the eventuality of a coup d'etat Sir James Mancham would be killed, some of his Ministers and some of the leading person, families in Seychelles at least that was the internal agenda.  They managed  to stay alive and from exile, the other Indian ocean games they followed and read about. Meanwhile some 15 percent of the population had be  forced in exile and they had children and the participation in sport all this was/we cut short and nobody mentioned,  it safe Mr Gerard Hoareau , Mr Frichot and Mr Gabby Hoareau and Mr Owen Hoareau and Mr Betsey. We had visited Mr Felix Hoareau in Swansea in 1979, he had organised our Independence cannot remember if we had mentioned this topic - meanwhile those planing a counter coup d'etat.  

I found myself involved in the debacle the financing and construction of the new Stadium the exile were very angry, they all called for boycott and the USA/Britain opposed it.  I had lend my support to this project  and the outcome.  Today this facility. It paid dividend and nobody mention this even that mad Truth commission etc., It was  a test between President F A 'Rene and my person as to my ability to deliver on such large project and issues.


Again we go back to the Creole culture and Intellectualism,  as again it music,  musicians and artists -the important role and impact of that SIORP program on Seychelles sport development and function, regional and International Sport in RUSSIA and China  , we had be involved in numerous Olympic issues at the very high level and today the cover-up and lies those who are still alive or dead. Scandals

This extended itself to the Africa sport and the commonwealth sport and the francophone sport. Nobody mentions this or care to mention this. The need to mention then South Africa sport participation, politic.

In Mauritius some of the leading families who knew of Seychelles before Independence and the issues of Seychelles participating in the first game under President Mancham government, the requirement, implications  and their support during the exile years and after Return of Multiparty and events.

In UK the Boris Johnson government is not being positive on my person and thoughts to write this article  - however I hope those who will read it think of what really happened, the manner and methods those were deprived of any rights and chance to participate and then what get written as history , the UN and all the crazies, experts, national Sport hero.  The like of that Truth Commission etc., and their Benchmark, they  just may write a foot note in their final documentary and final report whatever.
