Eden Casino is one year old
05-September-2014
It was toasts, a few drinks and of course a big birthday cake at the Eden Casino last weekend as what has been described as Seychelles’ most modern, spacious, attractive and well decorated gambling house celebrated its first anniversary.
Regular clients, friends and other guests had gathered around staff and the management team to wish them and their establishment a happy birthday.
Allan Ernestine, director of Eden Entertainment Ltd who owns the casino, said even if the past year has offered another form of entertainment and happy days which have developed friendship among customers and staff, it has also not been without difficulties.
“The past year has been not so bad but there have also been ups and downs. Like many other businesses we struggled to keep our heads above water,” he said.
Mr Ernestine has cited the difficulty in bringing in clients as a main concern, as there is no direct bus service to Eden Island and the nearest bus stop at Roche Caïman is a little too far away for one’s ease and comfort. There is also no taxi bay or free parking space and providing a shuttle service will not be viable at the moment as the clientèle level is low.
“Eden Casino is an entertainment facility and clients want to come here to enjoy themselves. I think that parking should be free in the evening as this is also the time when people come for dinner. Added to that, the casino is situated on the first floor, far from the car park and entrance,” he said, promising to discuss the matter with the Eden management.
Despite the difficulties which also include high overheads, the director of the Eden Casino has expressed his optimism and looks forward to the coming year as he feels there is good prospect in the casino and gambling business.
Talking about current and new products in order to attract more tourists and locals alike, he has said the management aims at “killing three birds with one stone”, with the opening of a classy restaurant in the future.
“We are by far the best small casino in the Indian Ocean and unique with the nicest atmosphere and beautiful ambiance. Added to the casino itself, we have a fabulous lounge and bar”.
Mr Ernestine has concluded that with more businesses opening their doors and bringing more clients to Eden Island as in the case of the new Eden Bleu Hotel, it will be no surprise if the casino starts to get very busy in the near future!
