As of Tuesday May 17 Seychelles NATION is presenting the profiles of all contestants taking part in this year’s Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 beauty pageant.
We publish two contestants daily. Please note that online voting is still on through Airtel on 9689 and Cable & Wireless on 9688 for Miss People’s Choice.

The Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 beauty pageant will be held on Saturday May 28 at the ICCS starting at 6.30pm. Tickets are on sale at the STB head office at Espace and at the Tourist Information Office, Independence House at R700 each.

Contestant No.9 – Anais Nourrice


Anais Nourice is 18 years old from Roche Caiman and a student. She likes basketball and enjoys listening to music, dancing, drawing and watching TV series. She sees herself as completing her education via an overseas scholarship and then owning her own beauty business.

Contestant No.10 – Juanita Porice

Juanita Porice is an 18-year-old student who comes from Anse Boileau with an interest in volleyball. She has participated actively in athletics and now enjoys listening to music, babysitting and watching movies. She has plans to become a career woman with her own family and to participate in philanthropic work.

Fisherman’s Cove hotel hosts contestants’ pre-judging round


The 12 contestants of this year’s Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 were hosted to their pre-judging round on Wednesday night at Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove Hotel, the host venue and sponsor.
The panel of jury of seven members -- four women and three men -- from various professional backgrounds met from 3pm to 9.30pm, meeting the contestants on a one-to-one basis where they were each interviewed on several criteria prerequisites.
The panel of jury based their first impressions on the entrance of the contestants as they entered the judging room taking into consideration their appearance, posture, poise, grooming and design wear.
The introduction and articulation of each contestant together with their body language and walk, eye contact with the judges was also taken into consideration alongside their self-confidence, character, ease and smile.
The judges also looked at each contestant’s educational attainment, knowledge, interests and aspirations, level of the English and French language and also focused on their physical criteria and appearance detailing the hair style, body, height and other posture characteristics while seated.
The way a contestant communicates, expresses herself on social sensitivity issues and her views on volunteerism and as an advocate for charitable causes form part of the values which the judges sought for at the pre-judging round.
Following the one-on-one interview, the contestants and judges were hosted to a cocktail on The Pontoon, a new food and beverage outlet at Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove Hotel which lies on the same property located by the edge of the Indian Ocean with a breathtaking view of Silhouette Island.
There, the judges continued their pre-judging assessment of the 12 contestants looking at their charisma and social ease, communication and conversation skills, confidence and interaction with people at a social gathering.
The chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Sherin Naiken, and her deputy, Nathalie Didon, were also present at the cocktail event only to assess the performance of the contestants and the culmination of their three-month grooming and training period.
“I am totally satisfied to see the way the contestants are ready for tomorrow evening’s big night and from the first time I saw them three months ago, they have progressed and turned into top models as a result of their intensive training undertaken by the team of groomers,” Ms Naiken said.
She also thanked Romain Chanet, the general manager of Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove and his team for the kind hospitality extended to the contestants, groomers and team of hairdressers and beauticians for the day spent at the hotel for the pre-judging round.
“Fisherman’s Cove is another partner from the private sector who has come onboard with STB through their support and sponsorship for the pre-judging round and which immensely contributes towards seeing a successful pageant tomorrow evening,” Ms Naiken added.
Meanwhile, all is set and ready for the Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 beauty pageant which will be held at the ICCS tomorrow as from 6.30pm.
The organisers have announced that all guests attending will receive a gift and a souvenir programme.
A cocktail reception will be held after the pageant and guests will have the chance to mix and take photos with contestants at the cocktail.
