Recruitment for candidates for second cohort starts

The search for potential candidates working in the fields of culture, tourism, environment, planning, agriculture and heritage conservation, both in the public and private sector, who want to apply for a place to study sustainable tourism management at Master’s level officially started on Friday. It will close on July15 when the selection process will start.
Fifteen places are available for the second cohort of the two-year training course which targets candidates in policy and decision-making in sustainable tourism delivered by the Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Arts & Social Development at the University of Seychelles (UniSey) at Anse Royale.
Dr Madina Regnault, head of the department, said on Friday that the first cohort will complete their training during the course of the year and will graduate in November while the second cohort is expected to begin training in September.
“Potential applicants can get in touch with the faculty for more details and fill in application documents. They can also liaise directly with Dr Regnault via email madina.regnault@unisey.ac.sc Recruitment is also being carried out in France and already a few students have shown interest,” said, Dr Regnault, noting that this is possible as per the joint programme agreement with the Sorbonne University.
“The interesting thing about the course programme is that its curriculum was designed to meet and answer the needs of Seychelles at present and for the coming years,” Dr Regnault explained.
She said the different components of the course programme include marketing, public policies, economy of tourism and methodology of research among others.
The course is conducted over two full days per week on Tuesday and Thursday and the aim is to train as many people locally as it is more affordable for the country.
Dr Regnault is calling on ministries, agencies and organisations in the private sector to seize the opportunity to train their cadres locally.
