Gaylord, Moïse finish 121st and 130th respectively
Our local duo of Silly Gaylord and Iven Moïse were no match for the other marathon runners at the 2019 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) hosted by the city of Aarhus in Denmark on Saturday.
At the 43rd championships which attracted 141 athletes, Gaylord clocked 37 minutes 53 seconds (37:53) to complete the 10km race in 121st overall position, while Moïse finished 130th overall in 39:01.
The Ugandan pair of Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo clinched the first two spots, with the former finishing first in 31:41.
Kiplimo was second in 31:44, finishing ahead of Kenya’s Geoffrey Kamworor who was third in 31:55.
In the women’s race, Kenya’s Hellen Obiri was first in 36:14, ahead Dera Dida of Ethiopia who was the race runner-up in 36:16, ahead of compatriot Letesenbet Gidey who was third overall in 36:24.
