COMMUNICATE OF THE HOUSE OF S.M. THE KING

In the face of the information concerning S.M. King Don Juan Carlos, which appeared to date in different media, the House of S.M. the King wants to record:

1. That in his proclamation address to the General Cortes on June 19, 2014 S.M. the King said as follows:

" The Crown must (...) ensure the dignity of the Institution, preserve its prestige and observe full, honest and transparent conduct, as corresponds to its institutional function and social responsibility. Because, only in that way, will she become a creditor of the moral authority necessary for the performance of her duties. Today, more than ever, citizens rightly demand that moral and ethical principles inspire - and exemplary presided - our public life. And the King, at the head of the State, has to be not only a reference but also a servant of that just and legitimate demand of citizens."

2. That in consistency with the words spoken in his speech of proclamation and in order to preserve the specimplary of the Crown, S.M. the King wants it to be publicly known that S.M. King Don Juan Carlos has knowledge of his decision to give up the inheritance of Don Juan Carlos that could personally correspond to him, as well as any assets, investment or financial structure whose origin, characteristics or purpose may not be in line with the legality or with the criteria of righteousness and integrity that govern his institutional activity and Private and must report the activity of the Crown.

3. S.M. King Don Juan Carlos ceases to perceive the allocation he has set in the Budgets of the House of S.M. the King.

4. In connection with the news that has appeared today about the entity called "Zagatka Foundation", His Majesty the King is completely unaware of his alleged designation as beneficiary of that Foundation. In any event, if his designation as beneficiary of the Foundation were true, paragraph 2 of this communiqué would apply.

5. In connection with the news that appeared today about the entity called "Lucum Foundation", the following is recorded:

5.1 By letter dated 5 March 2019, addressed to the House of S.M. the King by the office of Lawyers Kobre & Kim (U.K.), His Majesty the King was aware-without any documentary justification -, of his alleged designation as beneficiary of the "Lucum Foundation", from the moment the death of His Majesty King Don Juan Carlos occurred.

5.2 In the face of this information, His Majesty the King preventively took the following decisions:

First. Transfer copy of that letter to S.M. King Don Juan Carlos, as well as to the competent authorities.

Second. Let the House of S.M. the King inform the aforementioned law office, that neither His Majesty nor His House had any knowledge, participation or responsibility in the alleged facts he mentioned,-so he lacked any lawful justification for his involvement in them -, nor would I designate legal representative to start any negotiation with the aforementioned Lawyer s' office on the facts described.

This communication was made by letter dated 21 March 2019.

Third. Appearing before Notary on April 12, 2019, to state that he has addressed a letter to his father, King Don Juan Carlos, so that if his designation were true or that of the Princess of Asturias as beneficiaries of the Lucum Foundation, leave such designation without effect, also stating that it would not accept any participation or benefit in that entity, also waiving any right, expectation or interest that, even without their consent or knowledge, could correspond to them now or in the future in relation to the Lucum Foundation.

Fourth. Also, and in the same notarial act, and in addition to the above, he stated that he had no knowledge or consent to participate, on behalf of third parties, in particular his daughter, in any asset, investment or financial structure whose origin, characteristics or purpose may not be in full and strict conformity with the legality or with the criteria of transparency, integrity and exemplary reporting their institutional and private activity. And in the hypothesis that, even without his consent or knowledge, he would have been unilaterally designated as heir, legatory or beneficiary in relation to any assets investments or structures, he stated not to accept any share or benefit in those assets and waive any right, expectation or interest that might correspond to them in the future

6. S.M. King Don Juan Carlos has asked the House of S.M. the King to make public the following extremes:

6.1 That of the two foundations cited at no time provided information to S.M. the King.

6.2 Who has appointed Advocate D for representation. Don Javier Sánchez-Junco Mans, who, in the exercise of the right to defence, will now be the one to give public account of the information that may affect him and considered appropriate.

6.3 That, following his abdication in June 2014, on May 27, 2019, announced that in June of that year it would end all institutional or official activity, withdrawing completely from public life.
