The battle over Scottish independence intensifies tonight as Alex Salmond and Alistair Darling go head to head in the first live TV debate of the referendum campaign.
The Scottish First Minister will be forced to defend his dream of independence from forensic attacks by the former Labour Chancellor during the STV showdown.
With up to half a million people still undecided, Mr Salmond has been urged to keep his cool during the two-hour marathon, but Mr Darling needs to appeal to those whose hearts are telling them it is time to break up the 300-year-old union.
