Death of father Jean-Claude Desjardins
It is with sadness that the Diocese of Port Louis announces the death of Father Jean-Claude Desjardins last night. After a long illness, 89-year-old Father Desjardins has died. His remains will be exposed this Monday, December 21 from 9 pm at the Chapel of Thabor. The burial mass will be celebrated this Monday even at 15 pm at St. John's Church.
Father Desjardins was ordained a priest on August 15, 1955. During his 65 years serving the Diocese of Port Louis, he served many parishes, including Saint-Sauveur, in Bambous, the Immaculate Conception, Saint - Julien, Notre-Dame-du-Refuge among others. He also practiced in Rodrigues for more than 10 years. Before retiring, Father Desjardins was a vicar at the parish of Sainte Ursule in Flacq.
