'More flights to Seychelles great boost for business’
‘More flights to Seychelles great boost for business’
The Seychelles International Airport is expected to become busier with an increase in international flight movements.
This remarkable increase has been made possible through several accords signed by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and its counterparts in other countries to ensure that Seychelles is more than ever connected to the rest of the world.
Most airlines flying to and from Seychelles are to increase their flights schedule during the winter season which runs from October 26 this year to March 28 next year.
With the excellent cooperation that exists between regional countries, the SCAA has open Seychelles to three new destinations – Mumbai, Dar Es Salaam and Antananarivo.
The local aviation authority has done the necessary to connect our small archipelago to Mumbai, the capital city of Bollywood. The national airline, Air Seychelles is to launch its first flight to this new destination on December 2 with a three times per week service – Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

A second Condor flight to Seychelles under study
A second Condor flight to Seychelles under study
07-November-2014
Discussions are ongoing on the possibility of the German airline Condor to have a second non-stop flight to Seychelles.
Jens Boyd and Herwig Oberhuber of Condor and a Seychelles delegation headed by Minister Alain St Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture met at the recent World Travel Market (WTM) in London to discuss the issue.
Present at the airline meeting alongside Minister St Ange were Captain David Savy, the chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority and a board member of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB); Sherin Naiken, chief executive of the STB; and Bernadette Willemin, STB’s director for Europe.
The discussions were a follow up to an earlier meeting held in Seychelles between the Condor management and the Seychellois authorities on the possibility for Condor to introduce a second weekly non-stop direct flight linking Germany and Seychelles.
“Today's meeting was positive. We listened to the Condor management. We discussed the challenges and together analysed possibilities,” said Minister St Ange after the meeting.
“Messrs Boyd and Oberhuber of Condor will now further discuss the route at their Frankfurt Head Office and we believe that in the coming weeks a final decision will be made on the matter,” said Minister St Ange.

Air Seychelles to re-commence non-stop services to Paris CDG
17-March-2015
Air Seychelles will this year be flying thrice weekly non-stop to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport with the close collaboration of Air France.
Making the announcement yesterday, Foreign Affairs and Transport Minister Joël Morgan said this follows further progress in advancing economic and commercial cooperation between Seychelles and France.
“This is an important step for Seychelles and is made possible by the strengthened co-operation with France, following the important meeting between President James Michel and President François Hollande in Paris last year, as well as his meeting with senior official from Air France and the ongoing commitment and support of the shareholders.
“Making the opportunity to have sustainable non-stop flights to Paris CDG even greater is the fact Seychelles is registering double digit growth in tourism arrivals from France, our number one market, since the beginning of this year,” Minister Morgan noted.
It is expected the three per week service to Paris CDG will be operated by Air Seychelles from July 2015.
The minister said there was a lot of co-ordination to do and success would depend on widespread support from all stakeholders.
"I am now calling on all stakeholders here in Seychelles, and overseas, to actively support the planned thrice weekly service to Paris CDG to ensure its success. My promise to you is that the government will support more frequencies if you all as our partners make this new operation sustainable.
"While Air Seychelles will provide the air connection, at the end of the day it is the trade, tourism marketing and promoters who need to make things happen in support of this initiative. This is the exciting challenge we all need to rise up to meet. Let us work hard together as a team to make it a resounding success for Seychelles,” Minister Morgan said.

Private jets swarm in
Private jets swarm in
07-April-2015
Some of the most glamorous aircraft in the aviation industry were last week spreading their wings at the foot of Mont Sebert, on the northern aircraft parking at the Seychelles International airport.
Various aircraft ranging from Global express (also known as Glex), Falcons, Gulf streams, Embraer, and Boeing 737 and 777are spread out over a large area.
The aircraft parking area has over two days been filling up due to an influx of visitors arriving in their private jets to holiday in Seychelles.
Normally it is during this time of year, or at the end of the year, that the airport becomes very busy stretching its services to cater for both private and scheduled aircraft.
Seychelles being a high end holiday destination has great potential to attract this exclusive clientele who love to spend their vacations in our islands. For maximum comfort they travel in their own private jets, and leave it in the capable hands of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority to attend to it, while they enjoy the warmth and peacefulness of our islands.
The Seychelles International Airport has been gearing up to accommodate such clientele with the construction of an aircraft parking area in 2003. To cater for growth, an extension was done in 2007, and further extension two years later from 15,200 square metres to 40,350 square metres, hence doubling its remote parking capacity.
Furthermore, barely one month after the arrival of the first Dreamliner on its shores, a second B787 also arrived in Seychelles last week, to add up on a record number of private jets arriving at this time of the year.
