Seychelles loses a passionate industry player with the passing of Derek Savy on Friday 25th February 2022.
Born on January 14th 1964, Derek recently celebrated his 58th birthday. He started his tourism journey in hospitality management in the 80s at the Seychelles Hotel under Mrs Maryse Eichler and was known by many for his devotion towards the industry.
A perfectionist in his field of work, he was a hardworking man, with a strong character.
Skilled marketer and excellent PR person, he worked as a Marketing person in several companies including Air Seychelles.
He was also the Manager of the Bagatelle Restaurant at Bel Air after its launch. During his career, he worked for the two main Destination Management Companies, Masons Travel and Creole Travel Services.
Derek also worked for the Elite Club & Classified Destinations, as well as being the Director of Marketing for the Vanilla Islands Organisation in the Indian Ocean.
Derek had a strong talent as an event organiser where he was particularly good at putting up and organising different events. He was also an artist and got involved in the relaunching of the Mickey Mancham songs and was featured on the Ministry of Culture 'Wall of Fame"
Recently, Derek started his own business DS.com Marketing Consultancy. He was working with Le Duc de Praslin, Val Mer resort and La Digue Island Lodge as their consultant.
The Seychelles tourism industry expresses their gratitude and bids farewell to one of their own.
