Seychelles to compete in six sports disciplines
Seychelles believes in the talents of local athletes and that is why we are going to Accra 2023 to remind the rest of our might, in spite of being the smallest state on the African continent, chief executive of the National Sports Council Marc Arissol has said.

Young swimmers rub shoulders with continent’s elites



Despite the 13th African Games being the last chance for most elite athletes from the African continent to book their spot at the upcoming XXXIII Olympic Games set for Paris, France later during the year, our local athletes, especially the younger ones, have not backed down in their quest to produce their best results, while rubbing shoulders with the big guns who have Paris locked in their sights. Seychellois boxers land in Accra and ready to fight
The boxing competition at the 13th African Game is set to begin today and Seychelles is being represented by seven pugilists, including newly crowned Sportsman of the Year Keddy Agnes who is fresh from an Olympic Games qualification training camp in Italy.

No final spots for our sprinters on day one


The track and field competition at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, started yesterday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, where unfortunately no local athletes qualified for their respective finals. Joshua Cousin loses on points in quarterfinal to exit competition


Following his exploit in the 75kg category’s round-of-16 fight on Saturday where he knocked out Hamed Nikiema of Burundi, young Joshua Cousin failed to repeat the feat on Monday night at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra as he lost 0-5 to Neka Temesgen of Ethiopia in the quarterfinal, losing out on a bronze medal. Curtains go down on Africa’s biggest multi-sport event
• Rendezvous in Cairo, Egypt in 2027

“Since its inception in 1963, in Congo Brazzaville, the African Games has provided a platform to leverage our continental agenda and priorities, while it has also continued to be a fitting platform to showcase our unique African culture,” Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairperson of the African Union Commission has said.
