“It is not an ‘adieu’ but an ‘au revoir’,” an emotional Rodney Bibi expressed at the end of his testimony yesterday afternoon at the St. Louis Seventh Day Adventist Church, where family, friends, and members of the church of the late Mr. Robert Bibi had gathered for a last fare well to a man who has marked and touched the lives of many. This was evident as the coffin in which laid, Mr. Bibi made its way into the church; many shed tears.
The great man, as he was described by family members, past colleagues of the Seychelles Police Force (SPF), and the Seventh Day Adventist Church, took his last breath on August 2nd at the age of 80. Mr. Bibi’s granddaughters shared with all present at the funeral service that their grandfather meant a lot to them and that he has always been there to support them in all that they do.
“We will forever cherish the times that we spent with him. Our grandfather loved us, and we loved him too,” noted the granddaughters. One shared that she loved spending time with ‘Dadi Bibi’ after school and the many nights she spent with her grandfather watching football matches. She continued in tears, “I can still hear the echo of his voice telling me that I must pull up my socks, keep my head up, and always aim for the top. I will forever be grateful to have had such an amazing person in my life.”
