Seychellois among two women jailed in London for another woman’s death

Seychellois Magdalena Agathine and another woman, Kinse Aidid, have been convicted at the Old Bailey following the death of a 27-year-old woman, Hamdi Jiumala, in a flat in London in September last year.
The two young women, both 21 years old, were found guilty and convicted on Friday April 8.
Aidid was sentenced to life imprisonment, to serve a minimum of 15 years while Agathine was found guilty of manslaughter and jailed for nine years.
Hamdi Jiumala, of no fixed address, was found dead in a flat at Gainsborough House on Ayley Croft on September 17, 2015.
The court heard that police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 21:20hrs, to reports of a dead woman at the location. Officers attended and Jiumala’s naked body was found in a bedroom. She had suffered multiple injuries.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as blunt force injuries to the head and trunk.
It is believed she was killed sometime between 21:30hrs on September 16, 2015 and 08:00hrs the following morning.
Jiumala had arrived at the flat on September 13, 2015, along with Aidid and Agathine. At some point after their arrival they became involved in an argument.
CCTV captured Aidid beating Jiumala outside the flat on the Wednesday evening which was witnessed by neighbours. Both women were then seen returning to the flat. Jiumala had previously called a friend to say she was having trouble with two women in the flat.
Police enquiries revealed that Agathine had made calls to a man. Agathine put the call on loudspeaker so both she and Aidid could be heard. She told him that they had argued with Jiumala and that she and Aidid had beaten the girl “pretty badly”.
Detective Chief Inspector David Whellams, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Hamdi Jiumala suffered a violent death at the hands of Aidid and Agathine who consistently lied about the events of that night and failed to take responsibility for their actions.”
