Pakistani navy donates to La Misère school

19-April-2016

Pupils of La Misère school recently received a donation comprising school bags, stationery and other goodies while the teachers received a batch of caps.

This followed a visit to the school by a group of around 20 navy officers from the ‘PNS ASLAT’ Pakistani Navy Sword class frigate. The officers were led by commanding officer, Captain Ljaz Ahmad.

During the short presentation, Captain Ljaz addressed the staff and gave an overview of the ship’s journey and mission.

He stated that the core values of the fleet are to promote peace and goodwill wherever they dock.

Captain Ljaz also stressed on the friendship that exists between Seychelles and Pakistan.

On behalf of the school, language coordinator Reuban Lespoir thanked Captain Ljaz for the donation and wished the crew well.

“I can assure you that the donation will be put to good use and we look forward to more such donations in the future,” Mr Lespoir told the visiting guests.

A group of pupils performed a ‘thank you song’ and the crew availed of the opportunity to take souvenir photos of such memorable moments with pupils and staff of the school.

Such visit and donations by the crew form part of the social and charity work that they carry out in the countries they visit.

The staff and pupils of La Misère School expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to Captain Ljaz and his crew. Sincere gratitude also went out to Major Antonio Gomme and the Seychelles Coast Guard for making this activity possible.
