Brazil intends opening consulate in Victoria

The new ambassador of Brazil to Seychelles, Carlos Alfonso Iglesias Puente, has said his country intends to open a honorary consulate in Seychelles in the coming months if all goes well.
This will come about due to the increase in the number of Brazilian tourists to the Seychelles which amounted to 15,000 since 2014 but also to boost relations between these two countries.
“In order to cater for this situation, Brazil has the intention of opening a honorary consulate that could take care of these tourists but also to help us boost relations with Seychelles,” said the ambassador while expressing his hope to be here for the inauguration.
Ambassador Puente was speaking to the press after presenting his credentials to President James Michel at State House yesterday morning. The Brazilian ambassador is based in Dar es Salaam.
