Le Vice-Président de la République, Monsieur Vincent Meriton representera le Président Danny Faure au 5ème Sommet Afrique-Union Européenne qui se tiendra du 29 au 30 novembre 2017 à Abidjan, République de Côte d’Ivoire.
A cette importante rencontre sont attendus environ 5 000 participants dont 83 Chefs d’Etat et de Gouvernement représentant 55 pays d’Afrique et 28 pays d’Europe, des membres de la Commission de l’Union Africaine (UA), du Conseil Européen, de la Commission Européenne (UE), des délégations de pays amis, des organisations internationales, régionales et sous régionales.
Ce sommet, qui se déroulera sous la thèmatique « Investir dans la jeunesse pour un avenir durable », sert de plateforme de dialogue entre les pays africains et européens en vue de dynamiser le partenariat entre les deux parties.
Les discussions porteront principalement sur les défis communs auxquels sont confrontés les deux continents, tels que la paix et la sécurité et autour d’intérêts partagés, notamment la recherche d’une croissance durable, inclusive et créatrice d’emploi pour les jeunes.
Le Vice-Président Meriton est accompagné de Monsieur Claude Morel, Secrétaire d’Etat chargé des Affaires étrangères et Monsieur John Addo, deuxième secrétaire au même département.

Yesterday we made a comment about those former Government personalities retiring stating that the system, the institutions and people should/must not forget how they were appointed and brought into the government of then President FA Rene and the process and our terrible media - diplomatic benchmark.   What has led to the appointment of those new personalities their pictures published - when we set out to research and put into place the core of the IOC 33 years then Seychelles and its political system we had not envisaged that unlike the rest of the COI and eventually RIM association nations how they think they are very unique how they and where they get and developed this high management science and when - the rest of the world would like/wish to know. From this prospective we address the news that the National Assembly was represented at the AU- EU Summit the people ought to remind Hon Wavel Wankalawan he opposed our politic then 1985 promoting we did not want a system with favored the USA/British or the Russian  Chines instead Europe emerging with its values and institutions. Events the past 25 years- That SIROP program which Hon Wavel refuse to give credit and stealing, creaming off vital information and using them for his Party AND PERSON ADVANTAGE - When he talk of corruption where and how corruption works and started under the 3rd Republic  and his approach to
this Truth Commission and Reconciliation. The last African Union EU Summit and events in North Africa, the Wars and the Gulf Region and our advocacy for the SIROP program his Party and the National Assembly position,  those in African Union who know well the contents of that SIROP program the King of Morocco, the Spanish delegation , the French government, the many high officials of EU who attended and very many others what did he have to say of his person and position those from Mauritius and South Africa or is he going to be the dreadful politicians as many have become and the situation in Europe and rest of the world causing a near 3rd World war and what garbage they then tell the uneducated and less informed. If we want any progress and  and serious political development the politicians need .must acknowledge that there are and exist other mechanism which drive their power base and political system because - that power base and mechanism which control them can regulate and act as and when it thinks and seen fit what will they do then. Beside those representing that SIROP program had a Right to be at that Summit - for him to represent them it is illegal corrupt and dishonest.

Seychelles is hearing much news or fracas coming from the corridors in the House from China. Bye-bye Ramka is being echoed loud and clear. It is being said that this is finally the endgame for the man who has led the Seychelles Opposition in one way or another ever since the return of democracy (1991 - 2017). Too long some are saying, he is being referred to as the Mugabe of Seychelles.


The Seychelles Opposition has some certainty in what to expect we are being told. Patrick
Pillay, the current Speaker of the National Assembly, MNA Ferrari, and the likes are able and waiting. The end of Ramka is an event as momentous, in its own way as the opposition looks to a better chance in the coming elections. Ramka’s long tenure as Leader of the Opposition shaped every facet of the Seychelles Opposition. He created an entire approach in his own dysfunctional image. Just as we now divide Seychelles into pre and post independence, we will also speak of before and after the fall of Ramka as distinct epochs in the Country’s Opposition. And just as it is difficult to imagine a Seychelles Opposition without Ramka in charge, it is difficult to imagine a Seychelles without his arrogance and bitterness.

Names are floating (Pillay, Ferrari, Hoareau, Tirant) on who will be able to better offer the Opposition a real chance for State House. Those with the credentials to lead, and who will be better accepted by the Seychellois as a whole are being discussed. The big question is Ramka may refuse to go, but some want to force the point home now before elections are called.


We need leaders who have the credentials to lead. Our poor workers have been let down. A Ramkalawan / Faure approved Budget that does nothing for the ordinary Seychellois. What nurses, teachers, fishing boat owners, civil status staff, stevedore workers, rock blasters had in 2017, they will all have it again in 2018, nothing will change. No one is bothered to stretch your salary and/or to lower your cost of food, electricity, water, fuel etc.. Can’t they see that all the talking does not feed people, we want something that touches all of us for a change, and not only see National Assembly Salaries and perks that are on the rise. Even their Pension Age is now showing discrimination with them retiring at 55 and workers will be retiring at 65. Yes the next elections will be really sweet. Black Bull article of Le Seychellois, what can I say is still making its round. As is said in Jamaica a coconut wrote it and the coconut is rather an amazing nut. His past partners is showing a lot about his personality. Poor Vesna Rakic many still see you as a breath of fresh air in Seychelles politics. Stick to MNA Florry Larue, Ferrari, Georges, Loizeau and Prea. They could rally to save your skin in this period when Seychelles is looking at colour of the skin as criteria. Someone said Madame Eichler must be turning in her grave. Politics is now coming to a point where the colour of your skin will determine how far you can rise. SAD!

National Assembly represented at AU and EU parliamentary summit

The leader of opposition in the National Assembly of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, formed part of the Pan African Parliament delegation at the high level African Union (AU) and European Union (EU) Summit that took place on November 29-30, 2017 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
An honour for the Republic of Seychelles and showcasing the work of the members of the National Assembly that has been recognised on an international level, Hon. Ramkalawan was among three parliamentarians from Africa who formed part of the final resolution drafting team, which once finalised was submitted to the AU and EU heads of State.
‘Evolution in a manner that encapsulates economic empowerment of the African continent’ was at the centre of the views of the AU and EU parliamentarians who were gathered in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire for the Parliamentary Summit.
The Pan African Parliament (PAP) and the European Parliament (EP) held a Parliamentary forum ahead of the 5th AU-EU Summit in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, whereby the AU & EU Partnership was discussed alongside the central focus on investing in youth, which is a key priority for the AU and the EU as 60% of the African population is under the age of 25.
In his opening address, the President of the PAP, Roger Nkodo Dang, expressed that finding solutions to the challenges faced by the African continent must be a shared responsibility.
The President of the continental legislature believes that the current partnership must be re-examined in accordance with realities and the aspirations of the peoples from the two continents.
