Bozen – Wurden von der SVP-Führung erst kürzlich noch jene Landtagsabgeordnete gerügt, die gemeinsam mit der Opposition ein Bittschreiben in Sachen Doppelstaatsbürgerschaft unterzeichnet haben, hat sich nun das Blatt gewendet. Die türkis-blaue Regierung unter Kanzler Sebastian Kurz macht ernst und verankert die Doppelstaatsbürgerschaft für deutsch- und ladinischsprachige Südtiroler im Regierungsprogramm. Auch SVP-Obmann Philipp Achammer hat das „begrüßt“.

Politische Wahlen lassen bekanntlich die Emotionen hochkochen, bewirken jedoch auch dass manches schneller vorangeht. Wie es in Sachen Doppelstaatsbürgerschaft nun weitergeht, weiß allerdings keiner.

Völkerrechtler Walter Obwexer wies daraufhin, dass eine Doppelstaatsbürgerschaft für Südtiroler rechtlich zwar möglich sei, allerdings liege darin auch politische Sprengkraft für das friedliche Zusammenleben in Südtirol und die guten Beziehungen zwischen Wien und Rom.

Außerdem: Wenn nur wenige Südtiroler tatsächlich die österreichische Staatsbürgerschaft beantragen, könnte Österreichs Schutzfunktion geschwächt werden.

Fragen in Zusammenhang mit Wehrpflicht und Wahlrecht, aber auch im Sport müssen ebenfalls noch geklärt werden.

Sollte Österreich in Zusammenhang mit der Doppelstaatsbürgerschaft in diesem Tempo weitermachen, steht für Südtirol vor allem eines fest: Man muss geschickt handeln, damit nicht unnötig Porzellan zerschlagen wird, und zwar sowohl innerhalb als auch außerhalb des Landes.
