Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa gets financial support for its projects
27-December-2017
Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa has been rewarded for a full year of constant effort and success stories related to the protection and preservation of Silhouette Island’s fauna and flora and diverse community projects with schools, elderly houses, partnership with local farmers and fishermen.
This year, Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa team put all their heart and effort
into preserving the fragile eco-system of Silhouette Island by reducing the consumption of energy and water by 20%, by constantly improving the organic garden concept which now provides 250kg of the resort’s weekly vegetable consumption.
In order the protect the national and marine park, the resort produces its own mineral water with a target to reduce the use of plastic on Silhouette Island by 75% in 2018.
The resort recently started a new project to continue reducing the consumption of energy installing solar panel on buggies to charge them.
One of the goals of general manager Andre Borg is to participate in the growth of the local economy. For this, Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa and IFAD struck a partnership and the resort will continue to grow ties with smallholder farmers and local fishermen.
Since its launch in 2013, Hilton’s Action Grant supports team members to use their ideas to solve local issues that impact their communities. Winning programmes demonstrate a strategic approach to leverage Hilton’s skills and capabilities to provide a solution to a relevant local, social or environmental challenge that is linked to the hospitality industry. This competition aims
to foster creativity and initiative with Hilton team members, allowing them to be “intrapreneurs”– entrepreneurs that create local solutions from within the company.
Since 2013, more than 300 grants have been awarded globally, providing more than $880,000 to support projects around the world and often creating the foundation for longer-term projects.
Commenting, GM Borg said: “I’m delighted that our team has been given the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful project. The Travel with Purpose
Action Grant will enable us to dedicate the time and resources needed to help preserve the environment and support community projects in the Seychelles.
