The final phase of construction work on the Anse Aux Pins bus terminal has started.
In a press communiqué, the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) said the terminal has been closed since April 28, 2018 to allow for the final phase of construction work which is expected to last for four weeks.
It adds that in the meantime, a makeshift terminal has been constructed right behind the actual terminal.
Still according to the communiqué, this area was agreed upon following discussions with the member of the National Assembly Clifford André, district administrator Travis Chang Pen Tive, road transport commissioner Desire Payet, Seychelles Land Transport Agency and the police.
The relocation is not expected to affect the running of SPTC bus services, adds the communiqué.
SPTC has since last week started public education via radio, Facebook and its public announcement (PA) system at the Victoria Bus Terminal.
Relevant notices have also been posted at the Victoria and Anse Aux Pins bus terminals to advise commuters. SPTC has also deployed its staff on site to help commuters.
Members of the public are being advised to take extra precaution when accessing the provisional terminal.
