Terrence Hallock is the grand winner of the President’s Cup dart competition which was held on Friday at the Exile Club.
Fourteen players took part in the competition, with eight qualifying for the quarter final.
After being ranked highest in the knockout stage with 11 points, Bernard Berlouis went on to face Jean Andrade in the quarter final in a ‘best of five’ challenge, with 501 points to be erased on the board. Berlouis ended up winning the first three sets and easily moved on to the semi final.
Nichol Esparon found himself challenged by Paul Vidot where he grabbed the first two sets, before Vidot went on to win the third set.
Esparon won the fourth set and guaranteed himself a spot in the semi final.
Ranga Chetty was the next player to qualify for the semi-final.
His qualification did not come easy as his opponent Marc Pouponeau brought the game down to a fifth and decisive set.
However he was not able to pull through against his opponent as Chetty went on to qualify.
The first semi-final was set between Hallock and Chetty, while the second final four match was contested by Esparon and Berlouis.
As the players played a ‘best of seven’ semi final tension increased as players took their chances of winning even closer.
Berlouis ended up losing after failing to win the first two sets, but pushed on to win the third and fifth set.
With the score 3-2 in Esparon’s favour, he grabbed the sixth and final set to put him one step closer to grabbing the President’s Cup.
Hallock on the other hand showed dominance in his semi final match, allowing Chetty to grab the first and fourth set. He pulled through in the end with a final score of 4-2 set to bring him straight into the final match against Esparon.
At that stage both players seem to have the talent to grab the title and in this ‘best of nine’ final, the winner was uncertain. The game went right down to the wire. After a toss and turn battle, Hallock ended up winning with a close 5-4 score to grab the title in a close final which could have gone either way.
