NSC starts discussions with HPC of Pretoria

26-October-2018
Seychellois athletes and sports federations aim to benefit immensely from the experience and expertise of the High Performance Centre based in Pretoria, South Africa once a memorandum is signed and a strategic plan is developped.

National Sports Council chief executive Jean Larue undertook a working visit at the High Performance Centre (HPC) last week to engage and formalise agreement and discussions with the directors of the centre.

This visit was coordinated by the Seychelles high commissioner in Pretoria, Ambassador Marie Antoinette Rose Quatre and second secretary Terry Rose.

Mr Larue was accompanied by Mr Rose to the HPC for the working visit. The HPC was represented by its director Toby Sutcliff, and Steven Ball, the deputy director coaching and performance management.

He said the meeting was very fruitful and with the long-term planning of both the NSC and HPC, Seychellois athletes and sports Federations aim to benefit immensely from the experience and expertise of HPC.

“A strategic plan will be developed between the NSC and HPC. This would include training of local coaches in Pretoria, to upgrade their knowledge in the new developments, new coaching and training methods, use of information technology, science and psychology. HPC will send their experts to conduct symposiums to ensure our athletes and coaches are up to date with all the developments and techniques being applied in the world of sports,” said Mr Larue.
