Re: Seychelles loses one of two remaining World War II veterans with passing of Samuel Jolicoeur
Today Dad will finally lay to rest in the Land of his birth And he will rest in a land that is today freer than when he was born.
When Dad was born in a land under British Rule he served faithfully as a proud citizen and later in the United Kingdom as a soldier in Her majesty’s Royal Fusiliers..
His life story was like a Bollywood film story, leaving the Seychelles as a poor young man with nothing but the shirt on his back,
He joined the British Amy, and pursued his dreams of becoming someone, and to his surprise, like a cherry on the cake. He met his dream girl, my Mom who was working in England for the Royal family of Bahrain.
Dad couldn’t believe his luck because growing up in Seychelles Dad like many young boys tried to get Moms attention but she simply wasn’t interested in young school boys.
But when she met Dad in Central London on a cold winter night Dad was now a MAN in a proud uniform.
And she was interested!!!!
The rest was really His story.... and as a dying proud Man having fulfilled his dreams. His final fight was to closed his eyes after knowing his homeland was again free for his children
Rest in Peace Dad we won’t let you down.
