MY WARSTORY = It is not commonly known that a team of five Department of Defense civilian map makers operated a satellite tracking station on Diego Garcia 1968 through early 1970....

Initially there were five of us Americans and five Filipino national contract people.  We worked for the US Army Topographic Command, (formerly Army Map Service, later Defense Mapping Agency).

In November, 1968 Gus Jones and I packed up our tracking station in Quito, Ecuador and accompanied the equipment through the Canal Zone, Charleston AFB, Catania Sicily, Addis Ababa and finally arriving in Mauritius on a USAF C-141.  While in Charleston, Fred Milwee, Paul Jacobs and Dick Kyle (cook), joined the team as well as five Filipino contract technicians.  Others who rotated in later were; Mike Ellett, Alex Pinter, John Webb, John Shaffery and Roger Zejdlik.

We spent 12 days in Mauritius buying food and supplies and assembling the 90 tons of equipment shipped in earlier from Washington.  Information about landing facilities on DG was limited so the 10 of us built a 12 x 24 foot landing barge out of angle iron, 55 gallon drums and plywood for decking. We built the barge on the docks in Port Louis in one day.

Comment - Anybody out there with good picture of the Moulinier Family, Mr Mrs, the Son and daughter in the USA and the two relative Mr Marcel Moulinier and Jacques Moulinier the Architect. - they had a long lease on the Island and the managed it from Victoria Sechelles Seychelles in an Old Building above the Chinese shop and the Mancham super market across the road.

Over the many years of the Chagos Saga, the media circus and court case never herd their name mentioned or called as witnessed they knew everything and they were the Managers/lease for 60/90 years as was the practise.

I was looking at my server logs the other day, and noticed that the top search phrases that led people to my site are “Greenland” and “Diego Garcia”. As far as I can tell, this is because images from this site come in near the top of the list when doing a Google Image Search for these terms. There’s even an image of (a somewhat younger) thedude himself near the top spot. Ha!

British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) is one of the UK's most remote Overseas Territories located in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It comprises the 55 tropical islands of the Chagos Archipelago across 5 atolls and set within 544,000 km² of pristine ocean. The Chagos Islands occupy a land area of approximately 55 km² and the whole Territory was declared a Marine Protected Area (MPA) by the British Government in 2010. At 16 km² Diego Garcia is by far the largest land mass and the only inhabited island.

Comment - Those who rant about person the past 25 years. The mega dishonesty those high officials related to Diego Garcia - particularly London. That SIROP program to remove the Communist and USSR, COMECON and Communist threats from the Indian Ocean Seychelles and BIOT

Then you get depraved individual like Tony Blair saying we had weapon of Mass destruction we must be eliminated, sent to Guantanamo Bay or assassinated because w had indicated we knew a very great deal about the Diego Garcia original plans and those Involved.

That CERN WWW webs project was importantly impacted influenced and controlled by that SIROP program  and what they have written. Then 1987 information and communication control thanks to the WWW much of these information is available to the public.

Beside it is interesting form the point of view of science/education how the many USA ex service officials have addressed and presented their experience and knowledge - yet when we the exile endeavor to present history and our issues the opposition and the nastiness. Our French ancestors build that USA, Canada, they build that Diego Garcia  and the English/British dislike this notion.
