New Seychellois lawyer Michelle St Ange sworn in

Michelle Antoinette St Ange has been sworn in as a lawyer before acting Chief Justice D. Karunakaran.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday morning at the Palais de Justice in the presence of Michelle’s parents, Alain and Ginette St Ange, Ameer Ebrahim and her work colleagues.
Michelle St Ange took a first oath of allegiance to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the republic and the President of Seychelles and to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Seychelles as by law established. She then proceeded to take the official oath as assistant state counsel in the office of the Attorney General.
Justice Karunakaran welcomed Ms St Ange and congratulated her for choosing one of the most noble professions.
“It was a proud moment for me and for our family,” said Michelle’s father Alain St Ange, who is also the Minister for Tourism and Culture.
Michelle St Ange graduated with honours in a Bachelor of Laws in 2014 and also has a Bachelor of Psychological Science under her belt. She studied in Australia where she also undertook volunteer work for the Innocence Project, an organisation where lawyers, academics and law students work together to free innocent persons who have been wrongly convicted.
She was bestowed with two awards for academic excellence during her time at university, placing her in the top 5% of students across all the campuses of the university.
Michelle has started work at the Attorney General’s chambers in the department of legal affairs.
