National Assembly - Basil Hoareau steps down as US proportionally elected member

A communiqué from the United Seychelles Party has announced that Basil Hoareau is stepping down as a proportionally elected member of the party in the National Assembly.

Mr Hoareau has expressed his desire to focus more fully on his legal profession and chamber after dedicating the last two years of his time in the National Assembly.

As a staunch believer in the principles of United Seychelles, Mr Hoareau will be taking new responsibilities in the National Executive Committee of United Seychelles as well as in its Legal Standing Committee.

United Seychelles would like to thank Mr Hoareau for his dedication in defending the values of the party in the National Assembly.

“He remains a valuable asset to the party and we look forward to his frank and principled contribution in his new roles,” said the communiqué.

United Seychelles will in due course announce the name of the person replacing Mr Hoareau after the necessary consultations have been held.

National Assembly designates precinct

The sixth National Assembly has designated its precinct.

Parcel number H8038 is where the building of the National Assembly is located, including the small parking outside gate number 2.

A second plot of land has been included as part of the legislative branch of Government.

The plot number is H9237.

The plot is where the Commonwealth Garden is located in front of the National Assembly building.

Speaker Nicholas Prea explained that this designation means all Members enjoy all priviledges and immunity as per the law when they are on these two plots designated as the precinct of the National Assembly.

National Assembly delegation back from 140th IPU general assembly

A delegation from the National Assembly headed by Speaker Nicholas Prea is back in the country after actively taking part in the 140th Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) general assembly held from April 4-10 in Doha, Qatar.
