Mr Rene turns 81 todayToday, November 16, is former President Albert Rene’s 81st birthday.
Unlike every year when a birthday reception for Mr Rene and senior citizens from across the country is organised at State House on November 16, this year’s annual party will take place on Saturday November 19, starting at 3pm.
The annual reception for senior citizens was originally introduced by former President France Albert René himself to coincide with his birthday on November 16 as a mark of respect and appreciation for the contribution of senior citizens to Seychellois society.
Mr Rene, who created the Seychelles People’s United Party (then succeeded by Seychelles People’s Progressive Front and Parti Lepep), was the long-time socialist President of Seychelles from 1977 to 2004 when he handed power to James Miche
