The merger of Nokia (NOK) with Alcatel-Lucent combines the strengths of two telecom giants across both sides of the the Atlantic. As part of the deal, Alcatel-Lucent shareholders will get 0.55 Nokia shares for every individual share of their company and end up with a 33.5% share in the overall merged entity. The merged entity, which will be called Nokia Corporation, will have an estimated market share of 35% and compete with Ericsson (ERIC) in the mobile equipment manufacturing market. The Swedish networking gear maker is a leader in this market with 40% of the overall share.
