As one who has championed the need for a referendum act to exist in Seychelles i hold mass reserve on the way the citizens initiative referendum is proposed.

The part where it state that citizens by way of petition can demand for a referendum by not more than 35 % of the people legible to cast a vote meaning which qualifies under our constitution to vote.

The National Assembly yesterday afternoon started debate on the Referendum Bill, 2019 which details how and when a referendum will be held after it was tabled before the House by Vice-President Vincent Meriton.
