First agriculture and horticultural show on Praslin

16-May-2014
Preparations gather momentum

Farmers, homeowners, people in the horticultural business and other individuals wishing to take part in the first agriculture and horticultural show to take place on Praslin are being urged to fill in the necessary forms as the deadline for submission is fast approaching.

The show will take place on Eve Island over two days -- June 14 and 15. It will officially open at 10am on June 14.
Antoine Marie Moustache, a member of the national celebrations organising committee said a committee set up on Praslin to mobilise the community there and on La Digue as well are still handing out forms which those interested to take part have to submit by May 30.

“This is a great opportunity for the people of Praslin and La Digue to show what they too can produce. Until now people from these two islands have had to travel to Mahé to take part in the show but now it is for the first being held on their island so I believe it is a great honour,” Mr Moustache said.

“People from these two islands should not miss such a great opportunity to showcase their fresh produce as well as other value added products,” added Mr Moustache.
He said that after watching the show on television for many years, inhabitants from these two islands will now have a chance to enjoy and savour all its different aspects on home soil.

He reminded those yet to make their minds about their participation that there is the competitive category where some very interesting prizes are up for grabs and that they should not let those pass them by.

Mr Moustache noted that on the first day of the show the fishermen association of Praslin will have a competitive display of fresh fish. Prizes will also be awarded to the best display.

Mr Moustache further pointed out that entry forms will also be available as from next week in all Seychelles Agricultural Agency offices for people on Mahé who want to take part as well.

During those two days the show will be on, there will also be entertainment and the sale of other agriculture, horticultural products and food items.
