The vote to approve the three new ministers proposed by president Danny Faure has been suspended.
Today's National Assembly session was adjourned after Parti Lepep walked out after the Opposition which has the majority seat said they will not support the nominations.
The Leader of the Opposition Wavel Ramkalawan said Linyon Demokratic Seselwa (LDS) is in favour of fresh presidential election to establish a strong and credible government and not a patchwork reshuffle.
He said LDS' decision has nothing to do with the three nominees - Patrick Payet, Lucianna Lagrenade and Billy Rangasamy, whom he described as remarkable individuals.
A motion moved by the Leader of the Government Business (LGB) Charles Decommarmond to adjourn the debate was defeated.
However, before a vote on Order 23 (1) moved by the Opposition Whip Jean-Francois Ferrari to cancel the debate was voted on, the 14 Parti Lepep Member of the National Assembly (MNAs) stormed out of the chamber.
Ramkalawan says Faure should heed the statement he made and take a brave decision for the benefit of the country.
The National Assembly could not proceed to take a vote on the motion before it because there was no quorum. The matter is now suspended.

Here is the problem which DARF doesn’t get and the LOTO, Hon, Wavel Ramkalawan explained,
If DARF resigns there will only be presidential elections therefore one person loses his job a party sacrifice that it can afford!
But if DARF calls for National Assembly election then the chance of Party Le Pep losing more seats is very high and the majority opposition has a high probability of gaining 2/3 of the National Assembly which it then would force DARF to resign with a vote of no confidence and then leave only 1/3 of the seats if that! for Party Le Pep! Is this a sacrifice the minority party want to make or just get down to business with a vote of no confidence by LDS & PL! Together! (the real meaning of together)then the minority would have a job to go too at the end of the day!
Only then can you declare the “New Party Le Pep”
IT’S....
One for all❗️or All for one❗️ your choice Party Le Pep❗️

The frequent reshuffling of ministers impacts on the effectiveness of the government. It also makes it difficult for the National Assembly to hold government to account.
1. It takes time for a new minister to be able to respond to questions in the NA;
2. It is difficult for the NA to hold a new minister to account for possible failures when he/she has subsequently been moved to a new post;
3. It is difficult to hold an incoming Minister to account for decisions made by his or her predecessors.

As per the Order Paper for this week, the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Charles de Commarmond presented three Motions for the approval by the House of the nominations of Mrs. Luciana Lagrenade, Mr. Patrick Payet and Mr. Billy Rangasamy, as Ministers of the Republic of Seychelles in accordance to Article 69 (2) of the Constitution. In the subsequent Debate, the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Wavel Ramkalawan stated that LDS Members would not approve the nominations. Following the Speaker’s ruling to adjourn for 30 minutes for further consultation, the Sitting resumed with both sides upholding opposite positions. This culminated in the walk out of the Members of the Parti Lepep.

In view of this situation, the Speaker took the decision to adjourn and not proceed to a vote in the absence of the mover of the three motions, Hon. Charles de Commarmond.

The procedure to be followed during next Tuesday’s Sitting regarding the three Motions will depend on the position taken by the two political parties in the House.

We would like to repeat Hon Wankalawan address to the National assembly " the Nation and government is going in a circle and that foreigners will benefit - he forgot to say four step forward and three step backward " to remind him the many threads we have posted on government manipulation from outside, interference and involvement, seeking LDS, Seychelles government support and anybody willing to help including former President Sir James Mancham knowing what is going on and the European Union Institutions knowledge they have all refused to help and come to our aid with this SIROP program with significant impact on Seychelles government, the National Assembly, Seychelles Justice, the NGO and the Economy our many statements of SNP position 3/4 years ago and the European Union involvement after very long protests of abuses and corruption, Mr Christopher Gill and other major efforts, how the split in the SPPF/PL was caused and former Minister Pat Pillay position and his colleagues Ministers and the patch up, the Presidential and National election outcome and the decision of MNA/Speaker Pat Pillay to resign, events since - and his attitude and position on the Truth Commission the dreadful side of our Opposition Democratic working in Seychelles never mentioning those 25,000 exiles/refugees rights and what they have contributed to the Seychelles Nation.
In Sechelles Seychelles we have had seen multiparty debate since 1993, where as we in Europe have experiences this none stop for the past 900 years.
We have read and followed countless Facebook posting on the situation of the SPPF/PL MNA walk out riposting them to our Forum we have taken the time after Mrs Christina Decomarmond posting to watch both YouTube video
We have also addressed the time we spent in the Netherlands conferring on the Presidential Election and the National Election because my person cannot travel to Seychelles. Our statement that when the public had pressed for Hon Wankalwan to go we had held the view given the few able politicians in Seychelles to allow more time -otherwise he would not be in the National Assembly and never taken part in the Presidential election. To certain degree leading to the Coalition and President J A Michel resignation and President Danny Faure taking over.
We have followed the debate for most experience and knowledgeable person the Majority in the National Assembly have decided to create a National Crises and their explanations. Politic is ruthless, brutal, bloody and very ugly, merciless.
Certain Prominent High parties had indicated this is the second time they visit Paris and we had not been on the street to listen and grasp what is happening and the purpose of their Visit - my children have also requested that they are being neglected and my need to visit them too - Had we/I to choose to undertake any of these travel how this will impact and influence politic and national decision - Recently Mr Garry Tall published an article how much money the political parties and other have been paid we have be working tirelessly for this nation for 30 years the only person who ever gave a donation was Dr Dentist Josue Souyave towards editing of our report. Yet in that Seychelles the many with big cars, traveling allowances and other human other resources their big mouth and boasting. They are using and being paid by Seychelles Tax payers. From the Rich to the very poor. Come an election the voting process. The electoral both educated and uneducated - Please not the USA Senate sitting last night for 3 hours questioning Facebook CEO on Facebook capacity to influence election and political process.
We trust the official of the African Union, SADC, the Indian ocean Nations, the UN, the EU, Commonwealth, the Churches in Seychelles and the Arab Nations get to read this post those who can please refer them .

We made a comment at discussion the SPPF/PL walk out describing the 42 years of battle to change that nation/country rotten breadfruit heads -had to reboot and lost the ongoing comments - in Seychelles those who talk of "Senir Plim" the connotation ballistic/abnormal Masonic working /discipline some say four steps forward and three backwards -some 10 years we had worked and associated with the Armenian Community ikn London, Europe and their country - they had a lot of time for our exile/refugees, they gave is their best advice and this incident in their National Assembly today -https://panorama.am/news_images/645/1932025_3/f5acdf6ebdb1ff_5acdf6ebdb23b.thumb.jpg

Why we used/applied the derogative 42 years rotten breadfruit heads - the year 2018 going to Calais, issues of France last year including President Macron election and the Trump election. The debacle of Calais the past 30/40 years, situation before the Tunnel was build and after - we had found our self staying in a North African well known Hotel and the owners important connection in the Restaurant they had a genuine French chimney /Fire place with a large coat of arms and seating facilitates and each time before breakfast had sat there and waited, thought of You in that Sechelles Seychelles, took some photo at the back the parking facilities for Holiday Inn one of former President Mancham favorite Hotel connection - we ended by being introduced to the Polish Millennium church even Solidarity Leader have visited the place our intention to visit the church were they have Pope John Paul relic and tow other relic and his cousin administering as Priest and the large Polish community how they hold dear to their faith and their heritage and values the extended Polish NGO - we from the Indian ocean our French ancestral roots and origin - forget the many ancient resting place across the Pas de Calais the Atrois Patrimony, their Kings and Queens and those who represent and work their issues today -modern talking Alkatel Factory in the Calais the landing /station at Beau Vallon where the Coral Strand Hotel is and we introducing the topic of the NEOM City to the NGO of Calais . - the important efforts to re-inject some life in our Nation economy and society. Then we should not call that nation rotten breadfruit heads ( the French Market and how they sell their vegetables and fish etc - that farmer with some really crazy french apple we had bought just one and had to wait for several ladies doing their morning shopping before we could pay and ate it in public ) https://ucd.hwstatic.com/propertyimages/2/20046/2.jpg

Good morning we did not close this page last night - we request our visitor to listen to Hon Wavel Wankalawan address carefully particularly the issue of Seychelles having lost all direction and going in a circle - that SIROP program - visitors, friends and acquaintance has/had a great deal to do with it - whatever the media have written told you it cause President FA Rene to vacate His then Office, and two years ago President JA Michel. The need to stress and share in public we had gone to President Danny Faure in his early Office time and the limit what we can share in public to ask him to make it possible that we can lease or come to some arrangement and takeover or have the use of the old Mahe Beach Hotel building for that SIROP program as it is we would take care of the rest and no reply - President JA Michel last year his quasi offer that we House that SIROP program at his building and my our reaction. The rent is expensive and the topic of the Blue Economy based there. What we have addressed in public concerning former Minister Pat Pillay - LDS and the National Assembly their refusal to even mention that Program existence and why he had to leave the office of the Speaker ) much of Hon Wavel Wankalawan woes have been impacted by this SIROP program problematics. Seychelles media are really monsters, even if those leading powerful head of state do not acknowledge in writing some of our address - how the topic of NEOM city surfaced and the mega Saudi media and propaganda machine , that Seychelles EU Community coat of arms project and the linkage with President Holland, Ring of Remembrance of two great wars, constantly on our lap top the Russian - Europe grave situation, the need to develop and create a new synergy greater dynamic to change the dangerous situation our part of the world contributions and capacity. Had that SIROP program had some kind of place in Seychelles many of our Seychelles friends would be alive including Sir James Mancham and former Minister Berlouis and Mr Louis D'offay . Now we have the mega NEOM regional and world thematic and everybody in Seychelles gaping, refusal to know safe one or two small issues we have noted. Just look at the recent forum in Iran Royal /Family at we have this Iranian Dhow in Seychelles water and the news. The explanation Seychelles Navy and other government will give.

Old law skews Seychelles press freedom rank

03-May-2018
Seychelles’ press freedom landscape has improved and seeming stagnation is the result of old media laws – not lack of progress – local practitioners have said.
Speaking to Seychelles NATION ahead of World Press Freedom Day, which falls today, both seasoned and new journalists said it is now easier to report on more topics and with less self-censorship.
At first glance it was therefore not clear why Seychelles has advanced only two places from rank 87 to 85 among 180 countries this year, yet it rose five places last year and four, in 2016.
The standing was announced by the Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontières, RSF) just over a week ago and the World Press Freedom Day is being marked by events led by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), under the theme ‘Keeping power in check: media, justice and the rule of law’.

No need to filter social media platforms, say journalists

03-May-2018
There is no need to apply filtering measures to the different social media platforms as they provide individuals with a place to express themselves freely.
Local journalists who took part in a debate yesterday to coincide with the World Press Freedom Day today, May 3, argued that freedom of expression guaranteed in the Constitution, has to come with responsibility and that the population should be educated on the benefit of using the social media responsibly.
