COVID UPDATE (06/02/21): 71 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded since the last update provided in the interview on Friday 05th February bringing the total number of cases recorded in Seychelles to 1504. The samples were taken on the 4th and 5th February. 45 cases have met the discharge criteria and have been released into convalescence

9 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded since the last update from over 300 PCR test conducted. This brings the total number of cases recorded in Seychelles to 1513. All the new cases are Seychellois and are from Mahe. Most have a history of contact with positive case. Another COVID-19 related death was registered earlier today. The 71 year old man was admitted to the isolation centre at Family Hospital two days ago with severe illness and underlying medical conditions.

COVID UPDATE (08/02/21): 62 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded since the last update.
Of the new cases, 19 are from samples taken on the 5th, 38 from 6th, and 5 from the 7th February. Over two thirds of these cases are close contact to a positive case.8 are foreigners and 54 are Seychellois. 2 are from Praslin and the rest from Mahe.20 cases (6 foreigners and 14 Seychellois) met discharge criteria today and have been discharged into convalescence

Today's press conference raises more questions:
If we have the variant, is the vaccine effective?
If the vaccine is not effective, what is plan B?
Senior leadership is in quarantine  - our budget is postponed.   Nurses, essential health care workers are sick.
Average number of cases  have been doubling week on week even with a semi lockdown - 20, 40, 80???
We can't afford to go into lock down now as 1.5 months of semi lockdown has impacted businesses..    
If we open up fully, won't this number rise exponentially?  How will we cope with the increase?      
How will this rapid increase impact tourism?

COVID-19 update:
•46 new cases have been recorded. Of the new cases 3 are from Praslin and the remaining from Mahé.
•Following the death of a person last week, investigations conducted have revealed that the cause was COVID-19 related. This brings the total death to 8.

COVID-19 Update: A new COVID-19 R
related death has been recorded. The 75 year old man was admitted at the Isolation Centre at the Family Hospital on the 2nd February 2021 and died yesterday.
77 new cases of COVID-19 recorded since last update.
Of the new cases, 29 samples were taken on 12th February and 48 are samples of 13th February.
Of the 444 curently active cases, 33 are on Praslin, 30 on La Digue and the remaining on Mahe.
